May Newsletter

Please click here (English Version) to access our May Newsletter, it has lots of great information to help you stay informed of happenings here at our awesome middle school.

Quick reminder about our dress code - more information is in the bulletin, but here's a quick summary since this can become an issue in May.  Shorts need to be mid-thigh (fingertip length is a good rule of thumb), tummies need to be covered, and tank tops need a wide strap (no spaghetti straps).  Thank you in advance!

Student Schedules are Available!

Submitted by alison.hansen on

Student schedules are available on Infinite Campus - both parents and students can access student schedules.  Please make sure to refer to our Counselor's Corner tab if you desire to make a schedule change - you can make in-person appointments or make a request online for a change.  Be aware that we are full - we have very limited options for movement.  Our counselor's page has all the information you need if you do desire to make a change.

Want to Share a Locker?

Submitted by alison.hansen on

Locker Survey

Lockers - we are short enough lockers for each student to have their own.    We have lots and lots, no need to worry, but many students in our junior highs and high schools just don't use lockers so while our builders put lockers in every nook and cranny, we are short a little bit but aren't overly worried knowing the trend of how students use lockers these days.  Each classroom has cubbies and hooks for students that like to carry around their backpacks and we anticipate many students prefer to keep their items with them.  We do know lockers are new and exciting, though, and are excited for our students to have that experience.  However, If you would like to share a locker with a friend and/or do not think you will use a locker, would you fill out the following form indicating that?  It would sure help us out!  (We are happy for you to have your own, though, please don't worry if that is your desire.)

Come and visit!

Submitted by alison.hansen on

It is with great delight we welcome you to come visit the middle school!  We are not quite done and you'll have to excuse a bit of a mess here and there and the gentle hum of busy activity going on with final details, but we are done enough that we would love to have you drop by if you have time.  In the lobby is a map of the school and you can take a self-guided tour.  Our official open house will be in August, but we know there is enough anxiousness and eagerness in our students that coming by to take a look and trying out a locker (we'll have some set aside to test) might put nervous energy at bay.  We will be open 9:00-3:00 M-F  the rest of summer for you to come take a look - hope to see you!

New & Existing Nebo Student Registration

Submitted by alison.hansen on

School registration is open for new and existing Nebo students - click on the Registration tab on the school website to begin.  Both new and existing Nebo students  should register for the upcoming 2021-22 school year.  Once registered, students should also complete a course selection form which is found under the Counselor's Corner tab on the website.  (Most existing Nebo students already completed a course selection form in Dec 2020, no need to do it again, we already have you!)

PTA Executive Board Election - Please Vote!

Submitted by alison.hansen on

On Apr 14, 2021, our school's first PTA meeting was held where two significant things occurred - a PTA was set (vs a PTO) as that was that was the majority's desire and a tentative board was set.  A subsequent search was held to solicit any other volunteers who would like to serve in a leadership capacity and as such, we require an election.  Please cast your vote below for our PTA executive board.  The last day to vote is Fri, Apr 30.  Thank you!

Band / Orchestra Survey

Submitted by alison.hansen on

Attention Band and Orchestra Students!

Can you please complete this survey to help our band and orchestra teachers (Ms. Olson and Mr. Taylor) best prepare for you?  You may have already filled this out as this survey was sent directly to families who signed up back in December - but if we missed you, please complete it now.  Many thanks!

First PTA / PTO meeting

Submitted by alison.hansen on

PTA / PTO meeting - Wed, Apr 14, 3:00 pm at Meadow Brook Elementary

While all are welcome to this meeting, the intended audience is for those parents who expressed interest in serving in a leadership capacity on a survey sent directly to all patrons of Spring Canyon Middle School.  If you did not receive the survey and are interested in serving in a leadership capacity, please reach out to Principal Alison Hansen at alison.hansen [at] nebo.edu.

At this meeting, we will determine if we are going to be a PTA or a PTO as well as organize ourselves into nominating committees to elect leadership so we can move forward as an effective parent organization.
